The Western canon dominates English classes. History classes frequently minimize the backgrounds of peoples of color. Students are pushing K-12 schools to adopt race-conscious curricula, and this panel will look at what that means and how districts can bring equity to the foundation of what students are taught. This panel will also discuss the related topics of cultural capital, teacher-preparation and parent involvement, among others.
